Joel Anderson
Joel has been serving the Lord through church and para-church organizations for the last 25 years, receiving his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College and his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Although headed toward law and politics, a 10-week mission trip to Amsterdam changed everything. For the last 21 years he has served in a variety of ministry roles. He married his high-school sweetheart, Jill, and has been blessed with five amazing daughters. In addition to loving their work at the church, the family enjoys the outdoors, playing cards, chess, reading, cheering each other on in sports and theater activities and all things coffee and chocolate. In the midst his best and worst moments, Joel’s Gospel hope and ministry passion is rooted in the words of Hebrews 6:9: “Beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you!” Their family is thrilled that the Lord has brought them to be a part of God’s work in Flagstaff.
John Dyer Sr.
John has been a part of Flagstaff Bible Church since the beginning. He was raised in a Christian household and was taught the Christian faith since childhood. In his early teen years he became frustrated with failing to live like he knew God wanted, and subsequently quit trying. One summer evening when John was fifteen, God performed a work of His grace in him, giving him certitude, peace, relief, and overwhelming joy. Since that evening, God has faithfully kept John through the peaks and valleys of life. John grew up mostly in Georgia. Originally showing up in Flagstaff in 1981 to attend Northern Arizona University, he managed to earn a four-year electrical engineering degree in seven years. (He readily admits to not being a model student.) John is married to Risa and they have three sons, commonly referred to as “the Dyer boys”: John Jr., Matt, and Ethan. He is grateful to God for allowing him to work at W. L. Gore and Associates since 1992. Finally, he loves anything that is done outdoors: hunting, backpacking, climbing, and anything else you can do outside.
Paul Meldrum
Paul Meldrum faithfully served as the Senior Pastor of this church from 2005-2018, recently handing the baton and assuming a new role as Pastor of Shepherding. Paul was born in Hamtramck, Michigan, which is the Polish capital of the United States (but NO he is not Polish!). He grew up with six sisters and three brothers, which was convenient for forming their own baseball team. Paul accepted Christ when he was a senior in high school, with the great influence of his wife Ronna alongside him. Paul and Ronna have been married since 1975, and have three children-Jessica, Tim and Becky-and many grandchildren. Paul is a former airline pilot, with years of experience flying the Airbus A319/320 and a Boeing 737, 757. Paul gradutated in 2009 from Phoenix Seminary with a Masters of Biblical Leadership. If he actually has free time, he enjoys hiking and cycling.
Jacob McGuire
Jacob has been attending and serving Flagstaff Bible Church since 2014. He graduated in 2009 with his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, and worked as a Sheriff's Deputy for 10 years, from 2013-23, before retiring to accept the position of Pastor of Family Ministries at FBC. Jacob is currently enrolled at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he is pursuing a Masters of Divinity. Jacob is married to his wife, Janolin, and together they have five sweet kids; Braden, Adalynn, Blake, Amelia, and Ainsley. They enjoy time as a family playing card and board games, spending time outdoors, and going on vacations. God has used Janolin and the kids as the most useful and effective means of grace to conform Jacob into the image of Christ. He is looking forward to the latest chapter God has for their family, and is looking forward to serving God's church at FBC!
